St. Lukes Hospital Group

26 April 2004

Detarus have completed a project to link more than ten UK based care homes owned by the St Lukes Hospital Group, via secure VPNs to their head office based in Essex. There are further Care Homes expected to open by summertime 2004, including a one hundred bed hospital in Norfolk which will also become part of the new WAN infrastructure. In the menatime the new network has already helped St. Lukes Hospital Group realise the following benefits within the first month of implementation;

Central point of patient care Patient data is held centrally in a secure environment, and distributed via a secure 256 bit AES connection between Care Homes within the St Lukes Hospital Group. This means that patient data is securely available to doctors and carers when and where they need it most.

Staff Collaboration The email system now spans the entire company without the need for a modem or POP email accounts. Also, the company intranet is now available to all members of staff, not just those at head office, which means that remote staff are able to participate in competitions, questionaires and training on-line.

Cost Savings The cost of ADSL compared with other forms of communication, such as Leased lines, is phenominal. The move to ADSL alone has saved the St Lukes Hospital Group thousands of pounds each year. Even a simple dial-up connection can be costly to a company if it is not managed properly.

We are now able to provide Care Homes with a complete IT and Teleommunications solution, from structured cabling to computer hardware and bespoke software solutions.

For more information about this project, availability of a case study, or information on how ADSL and VPN could save you money, please contact our Sales Team on 0870 922 0614 (Press 3 for Sales).

Detarus negotiates contract with Surrey PCT

27 October 2003

Detarus have just completed the first phase of a project for the Guildford and Waverley Primary Care Trust. Phase one of the project has included the relocation of over 200 users from the old district hospital in Farnham to the newly built Farnham Hospital Centre for Health. The new facility comprises 84 single in-patient rooms for rehabilitation and Psychiatry of Old Age patients, a day centre and number of treatment centres including a renal dialysis unit, diagnostic services and a base for a number of community service teams. Of particular note is the inclusion of three GP practices, which will have state of the art facilities when they move into the new centre from the old health centre building in Farnham town centre. Phase two of the project (due to begin in November) will include the move of the three GP practices, plus implementation of an additional sixty workstations which will be strategically placed to ensure that each member of staff has access to important patient information at the new site.

Additionally, Detarus have negotiated an outsourced resource contract for one consultant to be available at Farnham. A full-time Detarus consultant will be on-site at the new hospital for twelve months to aid support staff with the new Active Directory infrastructure and Windows 2000 desktop currently in-place within the Trust. More information about the new Farnham hospital can be found on the Guildford and Waverley NHS Trust website at www.guildford.nhs.uk

3 October 2003

Detarus will be announcing the entrance to a new market within the next few months. Finally, after months of planning and negotiations, Detarus will be offering competitively priced, quality manufactured Biometrics solutions direct.

The UK is currently in denial of the benefits of what Biometric technology could bring to their organisation. For many healthcare organisations, cost is a major factor for not implementing a Biometrics solution, which is why we will be offering quality, cost effective solutions direct. This is only possible due to a new partnership with a leading Biometrics manufacturer and by managing the implementation of every Biometrics solution we supply ourselves, by one of our fully trained Biometrics technology specialists.

Repack-Edge v2.0 is released

1 September 2003

Repack-Edge v1.2u was launched back in May 2003 after twelve weeks of beta testing, as previously announced here in one of our news bulletins. In just five months, since May, Repack-Edge has grown, and matured into a powerful business tool for drugs repackaging companies. Repack-Edge v2.0 is a drug stock control, preparation, pricing and packaging software, which helps with the day-to-day administration of a typical drugs repackaging unit.

It has never been easier to administer the complexities of repackaging drugs, eliminating any reliance on unwieldly and unreliable spreadsheets. Repack-Edge takes you through the whole repackaging process, from ordering of bulk stock to combining vessels, labels and contents to the distribution of the end product. A repackaging unit is now able to print meaningful reports, including stock lists, packing lists, numerous accounting reports and order history, plus the option of designing some bespoke reports.

Director of Operations, Chris Nicholls, commented on the products launch in May 2003:

Repack-Edge will revolutionise the drugs repackaging industry. There has never been a software product as sophisticated as this aimed at the drugs repackaging market, and it can be bought off the shelf, from Detarus. As always we have listened to our customers and incorporated functionality that is able to resolve real business problems.

Health Director Magazine Features Detarus

1 July 2003

In the July issue of Health Director, Detarus are featured in a two page spread which has been written to raise awareness about, and emphasise the need for good customer service, and flexibility within the healthcare IT industry.

Health Director wanted to highlight how Detarus has established itself in 2003 as the preferred healthcare IT partner through our commitment to customer service, the continuous review of our staff, and assessment and refinement of our methods and technologies.

Having successfully upgraded Frimley Park hospital to Windows 2000 earlier in the year, Health Director magazine took the liberty of using Frimley Park Hospital, an ACUTE NHS Trust in Surrey, as an example of our success, including in the feature a mini case study, and quotes of support from members of staff at Frimley Park Hospitals NHS Trust who were impressed with the results of the project.
